Captain Heath Patrick
Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 19th SFG(A)—ODA 9525 Detachment Commander
CPT Heath Patrick is a native of Lindsborg, KS. He first entered the U.S Army in July of 2007 at the United States Military Academy. Upon completion of USMA in May of 2011 and the Infantry Basic Officers Course in 2012, he was assigned to 2-16IN, 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, KS as an Infantry Platoon Leader. CPT Patrick completed a deployment to Afghanistan while serving in this position in 2013. Upon re-deployment, CPT Patrick was assigned as the Scout Platoon Leader where he deployed to Djibouti in 2014.
In 2015, he attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection at Fort Bragg, NC and was subsequently assigned to 1st Special Warfare Training Group to attend the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). After graduating the SFQC in September of 2017, CPT Patrick was assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as the Detachment Commander of SFOD-A 7221. In 2018, he conducted an operational deployment to Afghanistan. In 2020, CPT Patrick was assigned as Troop 1 Reconnaissance Commander in 7th SFG(A)’s Crisis Response Force. In July 2021, he departed Active-Duty Service and transferred to the Colorado Army National Guard to serve as the Detachment Commander of SFOD-A 9525 in Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 19th SFG(A).
CPT Patrick’s formal military education includes: Infantry Officer Basic Course, , United States Army Ranger School, Basic Airborne Course, Military Freefall (MFF) Course, Special Forces Assessment and Selection, Army Special Operations Captain’s Career Course, Special Forces Qualification Course (Detachment Commander), Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course, Spanish Special Operations Language Training, and Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance, Target Analysis, and Exploitation Techniques Course (SFARTAETC).
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), NATO Medal (2nd Award), Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, and Military Freefall Badge.
CPT Patrick is currently serving as the Detachment Commander of SFOD-A 9525 in B/5/19th SFG(A). He resides in Lindsborg, KS with his wife Ashton and son Everett.
